The Black Ant

A few weeks a back I went to one of my favorite spots for margaritas downtown. I went to The Black Ant, which is a Mexican restaurant located in the East Village neighborhood of New York City. I mostly go during happy hour because allows for one to try multiple items and is great for sharing and all at a great price. Naturally, I order a margarita because thats what I do at every Mexican restaurant I go to. To be honest, it has to be one of the best margaritas in the city. They have two margaritas for happy hour: traditional and the smoky jalapeño. I ordered the Smoky Jalapeño Margarita which is rimmed with like a brown sugar and crushed ants! Instead I opted for a chili salt rim for my margarita because that’s my favorite!

They have a small bites menu during happy hour that ranges from $7-$8. I ordered the Guacamole which is made with, cilantro, orange and quest fresco. They are served with a few plantain chips and then the rest are tortilla chips. It is a nice personal serving size and in my opinion the orange is more decorative than it is for eating. 

For more of a satiating snack I ordered the Quesadilla De Pollo and the Tacos de Pescado which were both very delicious and I really liked the toppings and food garnishes which made for good eye candy. What I like about The Black Ant is that you can indulge in different flavors and textures without breaking the bank and it is perfect for groups.

    You are an amazing photographer! Beautiful photos! Looks So Yummy! Wish I lived in New York to go there. DO they really rim the drink in crushed ants?
