I always recommend an overcoat being something that a guy makes sure to have in his wardrobe. Choose a coat that has a tailored look to it with sharp lines and simple silhouette. Neutral colors such as black, gray, or even navy will work best. It’s the perfect way to top off a dope outfit and keep you warm at the same time.
2. V-Neck Sweater
This is another versatile piece that any guy can wear for multiple occasions. You can wear a b neck sweater to the office with a dress shirt underneath. Another way to wear it is more casually. You can rock a vneck sweater with a pair of jeans and some white trainers.
3. Navy blazer
Wearing suit separates is something that will never go out of style and the navy blazer is a classic “goes with everything piece. The color goes with anything and I would opt for a darker navy rather than a bright navy for added versatility.
4. White Trainers
If you are going to own a pair of kicks it should be an all white trainer, not the ones you wear to the gym I’m talking about a nice clean pair of trainers that aren’t bulky. You can wear them with pretty much anything and they are the ultimate streetwear necessity.
5. White Oxford
The white oxford can be worn under a cardigan, with shorts in the summer, with a sports jacket, with chinos. The possibilities are endless. You can check out this post to see how I wear an oxford shirt.
6. Grey Suit
A gray suit is one of the most versatile suits that you will ever own because the color is very neutral goes with everything and you can use the suit separates to add to different outfits. If I want to easily make a casual outfit more smart I will add a charcoal grey blazer.
7. Dark Wash Denim Jeans
More formal than your lighter washes this item can be worn from day to night and just by changing your shirt or jacket you can make an outfit that much more formal. A dark denim is the only denim in my opinion that you can pretty much get away with wearing to an evening event and still be dressed appropriately.
8. Reversible Leather Belt
The reversible leather belt is one of those things you don’t think of when buying a belt and for some it may seem juvenile but if you are anything like me you don’t want to spend time in the morning looking for a brown belt, cue the reversible belt where you can even travel with it and not have to worry about matching your shoes to your belt.
9. Black Leather Dress Shoes
This is the first out of shoes I bought for my first job interview. It works well from weddings to funerals. Black leather dress shoes go with everything they are a bit more on the formal side but you can always wear them and they will go out with every outfit.
10. White T-Shirt
Probably the most affordable versatile piece you can own is the white t-shirt. While not suitable for most offices or formal occasions this will be the base of many of your more smart casual outfits. They are perfect for a quick and easy outfit, good for layering outfits and for having a casual clean crisp look.
